Sandie + Erik | A wedding at Hans Fahden Winery in Calistoga

This lovely wedding was held at the beautiful Hans Fahden Winery in Calistoga. Sandie and Erik told me the idea behind their wedding was “Mexican hacienda meets California sunshine” held over the 4th of July weekend. With a wonderful blend of cultures, a super laid back bride, six little flower girls, yummy food and gorgeous weather, this wedding had me grinning from ear to ear all night long.

You will not find a more laid back bride than Sandie, kicking her feet up and eating an apple about 5 minutes from walking down the aisle.

Erik wore a guyabera, a traditional Mexican wedding shirt for men, as a nod to Sandie’s background, coupled with a yarmulke, as a nod to his.

Hans Fahden is a truly amazing place: lush gardens, a lake, lots of hidden romantic corners, vineyards, and a wine cave. Perfect place for a wedding.

Maybe it’s because I like dancing and music and can’t keep my feet still when I hear a good song, but I love shooting receptions.

First day of school!

The excitement of the first day of school is a little bit lost on a kid who goes to a year-round school. This is a good thing, I think, because Cooper was plenty excited. Old friends, new friends, two very wonderful teachers, and a mommy that got roped into being a room parent.

The photo on the right is my favorite of the day. This is the essence of almost-four Cooper right now: happy and constantly in motion.

Kim + John: An Intimate Wedding At The Ritz-Carlton, Half Moon Bay

This sweet and charming wedding was held on a weekday with only Kim + John’s immediate families. There is something that I just love about small weddings and the significance to only having your family present. Half Moon Bay can have iffy weather but we were blessed with the bluest of skies at this noontime wedding at the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay. Kim and John met at Department of Children Youth and Families in San Francisco where they both worked – which is also where I met both of them years and years ago – and secretly started dating. Kim has an infectious laugh that can be heard throughout the office and a penchant for shoes. John seems quiet, someone who would let Kim do all the talking, but he’s always proven that theory wrong. I’ve never noticed his shoes. Two lovely people with a passion for social justice, community, family and each other.

Isn’t she just beautiful? I did not get a chance to meet Saba before her wedding and when she stepped out of the car in her wedding outfit, she took MY breath away!

Shantel + Steve : A Wedding at Greystone in St. Helena

Great food, good friends, and a fun loving family made for a rocking wedding at the incredible Greystone in St. Helena. I always look forward to working here because Greystone is a culinary institute within a stone mansion in beautiful Napa Valley. It rained all week and cleared up just in time for Shantel and Steve’s lovely wedding.

Meagan + Niles | A wedding at the Mountain Home Inn

Meagan is a nurse at UCSF and Niles happens to be the contractor working on the huge project that is the new UCSF campus in Mission Bay. It’s almost a cliche: cute guy in a construction hat sees pretty girl going off to work, except I don’t know if he was actually wearing a construction hat and whistling when she walked by. You can see by their engagement photos here that they are birds of a feather – easy going, beautiful, totally in love, super smiley, and very tall!

Their gorgeous wedding was at the Mountain Home Inn near the top of Mt. Tamalpais in Mill Valley. The weather threatened rain and fog and instead we got clear blue skies…..and a cold, blustery wind. Love conquers all.

So lost in each other, I think they forgot that I was there. Always my goal.

Julia + Jeff | A Wedding In Marin

Sweet and lovely wedding at the Saint Anselm’s Church in San Anselmo with the reception at the IDESST Hall in Sausalito, both hidden gems in Marin. Julia is artistic and elegant which is a good match to Jeff’s talent and energy – he is a musician in a jazz band – and sung to Julia during the reception….in Portuguese!

During the ceremony, I often caught these two giggling and sneaking peeks at each other.
